Amanda Mitchison trained as a journalist and has travelled extensively through her work including posts in Egypt and Italy. She has worked for a number of publications including the New Statesman, the Independent Magazine, the Guardian, and as a feature writer and interviewer for the Sunday Telegraph Magazine. Her biography of David Livingstone was shortlisted for a Blue Peter Award in 2003 and in 2005 she was awarded an Arts Council Writers’ Scholarship. Her children's novel Crog was published in 2014. Born and bred in Scotland, Amanda now divides her time between North Somerset and Perthshire. She is married with two sons.
