Born into a cooking dynasty in Corgeno on the shores of Lake Comabbio in Northern Italy, Giorgio Locatelli is considered by many to be one of the finest Italian chefs in the UK and the world. At his Michelin starred restaurant, Locanda Locatelli, Giorgio serves traditional Italian dishes, emphasising the quality and freshness of the produce as well as adding his own creative touch.
Giorgio has had a column in the Guardian and written a number of bestselling books, Made In Sicily (Fourth Estate), Made in Italy (Fourth Estate) and most recently Made at Home (Fourth Estate). With recipes that reflect the places he calls home, from Northern Italy to North London or the holiday house he and his wife Plaxy have found in Puglia, Made at Home is a celebration of favourite vegetables combined in vibrant salads or fresh seasonal stews, along with generous fish and meat dishes and cakes to share.
Giorgio has co-presented two series for BBC2 on Sicily and Italy. He shares judging duties with Rosemary Shrager on BBC2's The Big Family Cooking Showdown, the cooking show presented by Nadiya Hussain and Zoe Ball which sees 16 families compete in culinary challenges to be crowned the nation's best family of cooks.
