Jemma Wallace won the ‘One in four’ new writer competition in 2018; a competition backed by Trapeze Publishing and the charity Gingerbread, to highlight the fact that a quarter of families in the UK are headed by a single parent. She has since been working on her debut novel The Truth About My Mother due for publication in February 2020.
Having spent the majority of her childhood with her head stuck in either a book or the clouds, it has been a lifelong dream that one day Jemma would be fortunate enough to publish a novel of her own. She is now a firm believer in never giving up on dreams.
Originally from the Scottish capital, Jemma lives in Linlithgow with her son Archie and commutes by train twice a week to The University of Edinburgh, where she has taken on a variety of roles over the last twelve years. Her current position of web content editor fits nicely with Jemma’s desire to spend as much of her time as possible writing, whether at the university or sitting at her kitchen table with a laptop and a constant supply of tea.
