She is the worldwide bestselling author of the Shopaholic series, Surprise Me, My Not So Perfect Life, Can You Keep a Secret?,The Undomestic Goddess, Remember Me?, Twenties Girl, I've Got Your Number and Wedding Night. Her novels have been translated into over forty languages, and Confessions of a Shopaholic, the first novel in the Shopaholic series, has been made into a film starring Isla Fisher.
Sophie's new standalone novel for adults, I Owe You One, was published in 2019.
In 2014 she published a Young Adult novel Finding Audrey about a teenage girl with social anxiety and her madcap family, and in January 2018, Sophie published Mummy Fairy and Me, the first book in her illustrated series for young readers about the adventures of a mother-daughter fairy duo.
She is also the author of several bestselling novels under the name of Madeleine Wickham.
Sophie was born in London. She studied music at New College, Oxford, but after a year switched to Politics, Philosophy and Economics. She now lives in the UK with her husband and family.
